MELAKA: The state government will ensure there will be an adequate supply of face masks, air purifiers and eye drops following the deteriorating air quality caused by the current haze.

State Health and Anti-Drugs Committee chairman Low Chee Leong promised that any shortage of these items would be quickly addressed.

“The haze situation in the city as well as Alor Gajah and Bukit Rambai reached unhealthy levels at 7pm on Monday evening . "The supply of N95 masks will also be increased," he said, adding that such masks offered a 95% protection against smoke particles. Low also said the use of surgical masks was only effective in preventing the spread of germs but less so under hazy conditions.Melaka City, Alor Gajah and Bukit Rambai recorded unhealthy readings of the Air Pollutant Index at 102,107 and 108 respectively.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is good; 51 to 100 moderate; 101 to 200 unhealthy; 201 to 300 very unhealthy; and 301 and above is deemed hazardous.Stay tuned for a new offer coming to you soon.
