MELAKA: The Melaka Commercial Crime Department has ramped up its manhunt for 20 individuals including loan sharks for scamming locals including senior citizens.

Acting state Commercial Crime chief Supt E. Sundra Rajan said the suspects were wanted for various fraud cases.The suspects are aged between 29 and 55.

"We urge people to be cautious when surfing the Internet especially when items are sold much lower than the market price," he said on Thursday .He added that the number of online purchase scam registered 87 cases for the first six months of the year with the total losses estimated at RM518,418. He said, overall, some 588 cases of commercial crime were reported between January and June this year with total losses amounting to about RM16.2mil.Article type: free
