He said 30 of the low-lying areas are located at Melaka Tengah and Jasin districts and the remaining 16 at Alor Gajah.
“We anticipate these identified areas to be inundated during the rainy season, forecast to hit the state soon.Adly said 92 evacuation centres would be activated if the situation warrants it, to act temporary shelters to over 26,000 victims. He added that 27 catering service providers have also been placed on standby at Alor Gajah, 10 in Melaka Tengah, and five at Jasin.
“We have also organised a proper coordination mechanism between various departments and agencies involved in evacuation exercises, ” he added.
