Presiden MCA Wee Ka Siong berkata, parti itu mahu MCA Sabah benar-benar mewakili kepentingan negeri itu dan membuat keputusan sendiri tanpa campur tangan pusat.
“Saya berikan sokongan penuh, tetapi MCA akan tetap ada untuk memberikan panduan dan latihan seperti persediaan bagi menghadapi pilihan raya umum ke-15 akan datang.“Kita juga akan menambah perwakilan Sabah dalam majlis presiden daripada 3 orang pada masa ini bagi membolehkan pemimpin negeri membangkitkan lebih banyak isu Sabah ke peringkat nasional,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas menganjurkan majlis sambutan Tahun Baru Cina MCA Sabah di sini, hari ini.
Turut hadir pada majlis itu ialah pengerusi MCA Sabah Lu Yen Tung, penasihat tertinggi Parti Bersatu Sabah Joseph Pairin Kitingan, presiden Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Jeffrey Kitingan dan pengerusi Umno merangkap pengerusi Barisan Nasional Sabah Bung Mokhtar Radin. Umno Sabah diberikan autonomi penuh oleh Umno pusat pada Disember tahun lepas, yang menyaksikan pemimpin Umno negeri bebas mengurus hal ehwal parti itu, memilih calon pilihan raya dan menentukan hala tujunya sendiri.
