The Barisan Nasional Chinese component’s publicity bureau called the sentence “excessive” against the 22-year-old man, Alister Cogia, who pleaded guilty. She said her party does not condone insults or slander against Islam or any other religion, but urged for justice to be tempered with mercy. The MCA spokesman also suggested that Alister be allowed to undergo counselling if the man who dropped out of school in Form One was found to have a learning disability.

if i'm a peaceful person & you insult me by calling me something i'm not, should i prove that i am peaceful by extending mercy or chaining you up for 10 years?

Wrong move by MCA

If the jail sentence is upheld, then it must be applied to all in Msia. The laws cannot be selective on its prosecution. Anyone duly found to hv insulted another's religion of any kind, must be subjected to this law & jail sentence.
