Bank of England expected to raise policy rate to 5.5% this week.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened marginally lower against the US dollar today as investors await interest rate decisions by major central banks this week, an economist said.

“The Bank of England will also hold its monetary policy meeting on Sept 21 whereby they are anticipated to deliver another 25 basis points hike that would bring the bank rate to 5.5%. At 9am, the local note eased to 4.6890/4.6940 against the greenback from yesterday’s close of 4.6870/4.6915.
