Many families of Covid-19 victims yet to apply for death assistance

The National Disaster Management Agency has simplified its death assistance application requirements because many people have not availed themselves of the aid, its director-general Aminuddin Hassim says. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, November 18, 2021.

MANY next of kin of individuals who succumbed to the coronavirus have yet to apply for the Covid-19 Death Management Special Assistance, said National Disaster Management Agency director-general Aminuddin Hassim. So far, he said, only 6,000 applications have been received, although the figure is far below the recorded deaths of close to 30,000 victims.
