GEORGE TOWN: Four men who stole two luxury sedans worth RM400,000 each never got the chance to profit from them.

Police seized the luxury cars and arrested the men after a three-week manhunt, said Penang Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Asst Comm Rahimi Ra’ais.On Oct 21, SAC Rahimi said robbers armed with machetes stormed a service centre in Jalan Pengkalan near Bukit Tengah, Bukit Mertajam.

“Between Oct 21 and Nov 11, police launched separate operations and arrested four men aged between 22 and 26 in Kulim and Sungai Petani in Kedah and Teluk Intan,” he told a press conference at the state contingent police headquarters here, yesterday.The case is being investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery and under Section 379A for vehicle theft.

Meanwhile, police foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs by sea with the arrest of three suspects at a hotel in Teluk Bahang on the island.“Three men, aged between 34 and 41, were arrested after 18 bags of methamphetamine weighing 19.2kg were found in their possession.“We believe the drugs, valued at RM690,635 and enough for consumption by 95,922 addicts, were to be sold to neighbouring countries and delivered by sea.
