Tenom: A 66-year-old man was killed while a 71-year-old woman was seriously injured when the Perodua Kembara they were travelling in collided with a 10-tonne lorry at Mile 8, Kampung Sapong Tenom-Kemabong Road, here, Friday morning.

The 66-year-old Kembara driver was confirmed dead at the scene, while the 71-year-old woman passenger sustained serious injuries.The District Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 11.46am and five members led by operation commander Shahril Sulaiman were dispatched to the scene.

The victim’s body was successfully removed from the wreckage by firemen and handed to the police for further action, while the injured was sent to Tenom Hospital by a MOH ambulance before the firemen arrived.The operation ended at 1.17pm after ensuring that the situation no longer posed danger. The firemen extinguished the fire by using a stream of 200-foot with two fountains from the water source of the machinery tank. Daily Express Malaysia
