Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the man had gone to the Petaling Jaya police station at about 9pm on Friday .
"Wanting to secure the permit, the man claimed he was a police officer with the rank of ACP with a 'Datuk' title. He even showed a photo of him in uniform stored on his mobile phone. "However, he failed to show other proof that he was a senior policeman," he said when contacted Sunday . The suspect was subsequently detained as he failed to show an authority card after claiming to be a senior policeman, he added.
"He was also remanded for a day and we are investigating the matter under Section 170 of the Penal Code," he said."We will take stern action on those who falsified documents to secure inter-state travel permits. We hope the public can adhere to Covid-19 standard operating procedures so that the spread of the virus can be curbed," he said.
