Lawyer Ramkarpal Singh says if it is proven that the man had prepared a statutory declaration alleging the assault, then civil action will be taken for defamation.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby, Ramkarpal said Muhammed Yusoff Rawther, 26, had been given seven days to explain the statements made at a press conference yesterday. “We seek an explanation asking him if he was the one who prepared the SD. If it was really him who had prepared the SD, then civil action will be taken, in particular on the grounds of defamation,” Ramkarpal said.
He withheld further details saying they were part of a statutory declaration by him which had yet to be made public.He made the accusation at a press conference where he also criticised authorities for not taking action over his previous police reports he filed against Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak earlier this year for assault at the PKR president’s office in Petaling Jaya.
