JOHOR BARU: A 35-year-old man is feared to have drowned after he jumped into the Johor Straits while fishing near Kampung Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Putih here on Tuesday (Dec 15).

Seri Alam deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the victim and his friend went to a fishing raft there in a wooden boat at around 12pm.

“The victim then noticed the rope was detached from the platform and jumped into the water to stop the boat from drifting away, ” he said in a statement. The friend rushed to call for help from others on the platform, but when he returned to the spot, the victim was nowhere to be seen.
