The suspect had fled the scene, but the police were able to arrest him within five hours.

Shamsher Singh allegedly attacked the woman and tried to rob her on Thursday at about 8.30pm on an overhead bridge along Mountbatten Road.

Just before the incident, she had alighted from a bus near The Singapore Association For The Deaf, and was crossing the overhead bridge to take another bus home from the other side. The suspect later fled the scene, but the police were able to arrest him within five hours with the aid of security cameras in the area.
