Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Hockey Association will be represented by 44 players in the Malaysian Junior Hockey League scheduled to start from June 4-June 28.

Its president Dato’ Sri Anil Jeet Singh said on Friday that the average age of the team is only 19 and they will be taking part in the men’s division one and the women’s division.“Many of the players in the team will be playing in the Malaysia Games 2024 in Sarawak this August as well, and some who are much younger can still play at the next Sukma Games in 2026,” he said.

“This is important because it will provide opportunity to players from the State to be selected for the national youth programme and absorbed into senior team.”According to him, Sabahan hockey players who are currently in the national squad are Shello Silverius, Adrian Andy Albert, Muhajir Abdu Rauf , Abdul Khaliq Hamirin Andywalfian Jeffrynus , Juliani Mohd Din , Iren Hussin and Nor Asfarina Issahyifiqa Isahidun .
