In a repeat of 2017 Kuala Lumpur Games final, Malaysia went down 1-3 after Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi lost 16-21,19-21 to Ade Yusuf Santoso-Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pangkaryanira in the deciding second doubles tie at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex here on Wednesday .
Earlier, Lee Zii Jia failed to give Malaysia a good start when he was outplayed 9-21,17-21 by Asian Games champion Jonatan Christie, but Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik levelled the contest by claiming a convincing 21-17,21-13 win over world No.5 Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto. Soong Joo Ven put up a gallant display against world No.8 Anthony Ginting, but it was not enough to earn Malaysia a second point.It was Indonesia sixth straight victory and 17th overall in the men's team event.
The national shuttlers will switch their attention to the individual events which get underway on Thursday .
