KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will continue to voice its stand on issues including the veto powers exercised under the UN Security Council, says Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Marzuki Yahya.

"We will continue to voice out because, for us, it is better to speak up than to remain silent," he said when answering a supplementary question raised by Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday .

If Malaysia is not a member of such a body or committee, he said the country should then try to influence nations who are members. Dr Kiandee wanted to know the proactive steps taken by the government when dealing with the move by the US to freeze the accounts of Iranians here as well as the fallout over Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's comments during his UN General Assembly address last month on the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir.
