KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Malaysia’s 1960s sprint queen Rajemah Sheikh Ahmad died today. She was 77.

“Her remains will be buried at 10am tomorrow at the Syeikh Ibrahim Muslim Cemetery in Kuala Terengganu,” he said when contacted by Bernama. Mumtaz, who was the speed queen back in the 80s, said Rajemah was always active in athletics and remained so right until her death, adding that she had also contributed a lot to improving the sport in her home state of Terengganu.

“In fact, when she was admitted to hospital a month ago, she was still determined to attend MAF meetings which were held virtually,” she said.

Made the country proud. I recall Rahim Razali and his tag line “ maju lah sukan untuk negara. And one of the opening clips on his show was of our early sports icons. Sports then was different.

Rip 🙏🏽.more should be done by this sports association and ministry in creating a dedicated website and Wikipedia on our very past sportswomen and sportsmen who bring glory to our country there should be complete database on them so future generations will know alas there is none
