Malaysia Airlines says it expects domestic aviation to recover by end-2022

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — The domestic aviation industry is expected to return to the pre-pandemic level by the end of next year.

“The restart will begin in the fourth quarter this year and will be back to the pre-pandemic level roughly in 2022 if the situation improves. The national carrier is currently serving approximately 1,000 passengers per day compared to the pre-pandemic level of 38,000 passengers per day in 2019, and handling 1,700 pieces of baggage daily versus 36,000 pieces previously.
