Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii says several countries have approved for children aged 12 to 18 to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Bandar Kuching MPs Dr Kelvin Yii said that according to reports, 82,341 children had been infected with Covid-19 from Jan 25, 2020, to May 30, 2021, with “the vast majority happening” this year.Yii said health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also noted that three children under the age of five years had died in the first five months of 2021.In addition, 27 children had been admitted to paediatric intensive care units this year, with 19 under the age of five.
He also said countries like the US, Canada, Singapore, the UK, France, Germany and Japan have approved for children aged between 12 and 18 to be vaccinated based on available data of vaccine safety. Yii also said that if the nation wants to achieve herd immunity as early as August, it must include two important groups that make up “a significant chunk of our community”.
This type of cheap publicity should stop once and all ! Majority of the kids at this age are at home most of time doing online study and if they are infected, most probably from parents who’s need to work to support the family. Who do you think should get vaccinated first ?
