He hints that the races may begin next year or by 2021.

The Sepang Circuit hosted F1 races from 1999 to 2017 which were halted when the costs became too high.

NST Online reported that Mahathir received a special Lifetime Achievement Award at the Petronas-Sepang International Circuit -Motorsports Association of Malaysia Awards ceremony in Kuala Lumpur last night for his contributions to Malaysian motorsports. “And Malaysians responded not only by attending the Sepang F1 races, but also began to take up racing themselves.

“I hope the races will continue into the future, and I also hope Formula One will come back in all its glory.”
