PRM vice-president Ahmad Jufliz Faiza called upon the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission to carry out an investigation into the Sungai Gong pollution issue that forced taps to run dry in 1,292 areas in Selangor.
MACC should investigate if there were elements of abuse of power and bribery, leading to recurring water pollution woes resulting in massive water supply disruption, he said in a statement Tuesday . "Stern action should be taken against those who have neglected their duties, and abused power at all levels."They should immediately order the shutdown of commercial premises, including factories, responsible for polluting rivers," he said.Jufliz said the authorities should also not approve development in water catchment areas.Factories near water catchments should also be relocated, he said."State authorities and leaders should take responsibility," he said.
