PETALING JAYA: PKNP fought back to hold Super League champions JDT 2-2 in their Malaysia Cup Group B encounter at the Manjung Municipal Council Stadium in Perak on Friday (Aug 16).

JDT was leading two-nil in the first-half, thanks to a quickfire double from Argentinian-Iraqi winger Gonzalo Cabrera .

However, Palestinian international Yashir Pinto reduced the deficit to one after scoring a penalty in the 35th minute. In the second-half, PKNP, who have been relegated from the Super League after finishing 11th this season, fought back through Brazilian striker Giancarlo Rodrigues in the 78th minute to ensure they got a point at home against the 2017 Malaysia Cup champions.

Meanwhile, FA Cup champions Kedah were held 1-1 by PKNS in their Group A encounter at the Shah Alam Stadium. Kedah scored first through Spanish striker Fernando Rodriguez in the 21st minute, but the Red Ants equalised through Colombian midfielder Romel Morales in the 69th minute.
