Panglima ATM, Jeneral Tan Sri Affendi Buang berkata setakat ini pihaknya tidak menerima sebarang laporan kecederaan membabitkan 216 anggota pasukan pengaman Batalion Malaysia 850-7 yang menyertai Pasukan Interim Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu di Lubnan.
Beliau berkata, anggota dan misi pengaman ATM di Lubnan adalah di bawah arahan PBB dan setakat ini tiada arahan baharu dikeluarkan. Media antarabangsa hari ini melaporkan dua letupan besar menggegarkan Beirut, Lubnan pada Selasa, menyebabkan sekurang-kurangnya 73 orang terbunuh dan 3,000 yang lain cedera.
Punca sebenar letupan masih belum diketahui, tetapi Menteri Dalam Negeri Mohammad Fahmi berkata ia mungkin disebabkan bahan kimia yang disimpan di gudang pelabuhan berkenaan meletup.
