The Lenovo ThinkStation P8 has officially made it to our shores, more than half a year after we first saw it at the launch of AMD's Ryzen Threadripper 7000

The Lenovo ThinkStation P8 has officially made it to our shores, more than half a year after we first saw it at the launch of AMD's Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Series HEDT CPUs. To that end, this clearly isn't your average desktop workstation, given the components that are inside.

Specs-wise, the P8 is a workstation plays host to a Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 WX-Series CPU. Going through the details quickly, these CPUs are based on AMD's current Zen4 CPU architecture, which itself is based off the TSMC 5nm process node. As for what SKUs are compatible with the system, it can be fitted with up to a 7995WX, a Threadripper Pro CPU that boasts 96-cores, 192-threads, and a boost clock of 5.1GHz.

The ThinkStation P8 also supports up to three NVIDIA Quadro RTX A6000 GPUs in SLI, although a quick check on the product customisation page shows only an A5000 as the top GPU option for the system. Moving along, the system also supports up to 1TB of DDR5-4800 RAM in octa-channel configuration, up to 27.3TB of NVMe Gen4 SSD storage, and the option for 10 Gigabit Ethernet to eliminate any bottlenecks. As a workstation, it is also optimised by Lenovo to run ISV applications.

Lastly, the ThinkStation P8 sports a new chassis that is different from its predecessors. Lenovo says that it has been redesigned with a racing company. At a glance, the design looks simple, its red accents looking really bold at the front, while the grills maximise airflow through the system. The side panel is also easily detachable, thanks to a special hinge design built into it.

Given the nature of the ThinkStation P8, this workstation obviously doesn't come cheap. The base model starts at RM16,429.10 and if you're planning to get a fully kitted-out model, you'll need to be prepared to fork out RM169,439.23. That, by the way, is after the discount applied by the site.
