Police are now allowed to use their discretion to allow people to go beyond the 10km radius limit to get their necessities and medical attention, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said on Friday (April 3). Read more at MCO

He said although this is listed as the law, police can decide to allow the public to venture a bit farther than 10km from their residence.

“If a food product that is needed is not available in shops in the area, police can use their discretion to allow people to venture a bit further like one or two kilometres away, ” he said on Friday . Ismail said that travelling farther than the limited area to seek medical attention is also permissible.

“Health is a priority so we should allow people to go to see their doctors even if it is outside the 10km radius limit, ” he said. He added that interstate crossing is also allowed in border areas, noting that the distance between Segamat in Johor and Gemas in Negri Sembilan is not even 10km, adding that police can use their discretion to allow people to buy essentials from either town.

now allowed? this is inaccurate. i watched the PC closely. The Minister did not say 'NOW ALLOWED' or something to that effect. He merely said the police could apply discretion. The rule is not absolute. The police can make exception depending on circumstances. Come on the Star!

Tukar lagi. Fikir baik baik baru announce boleh tak

Before making any exception. Make sure know how to control it first, otherwise will make things worse

PH sucks at incoherence with its own ministers. Seems PeeN too is not exceptional. And worse.

Police discretion are always biased. How to trust them in their decision making?

Reconsider 10km movement restriction, says health coalitionPETALING JAYA: The government must reconsider the 10km movement restriction that came into force under the second phase of the Movement Control Order ... I dont even travel 1 KM . 10km too far for city folk. I think should be 3km only. I think many people travelled out to buy marketing/groceries & also deliver to their elderly parents/relatives. That could explain going to buy at places further than their own house. Some consideration needed on this rule🙏
