Lawyer A Suayri thanks his counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik after the Court of Appeal ruling today.

A three-member bench chaired by Kamaludin Md Said ruled that the conviction of A Suayri was not safe. “This is a breach of the legal requirement under Section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code,” he told the bench.On Oct 5, 2017, the Magistrate’s Court in Petaling Jaya sentenced Suayri, then 59, to nine months in jail. It also fined him RM10,000 for the offence.
