Law granting MCMC power in social media matters being studied

SECTION 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988, which grants enforcement power to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission in matters related to social media and the internet, is being studied and improved to ensure it is not abused.

MCMC, in a statement today, said this is among initiatives to ensure elements that could jeopardise national harmony are kept in check. Effective July 2018, access to full reports will only be available with a subscription. Sign-up now and enjoy one week free access!
