AFTER winning a bronze medal at the World Championships in Spain last year and the India Open last month, India’s Lakshya Sen has set his eyes on breaking into the top five in the world rankings this year.

“It is tough in every tournament, so I really have to motivate myself to play well.

“I will give my best in the upcoming tournaments and hope to make it into the top five,” said the 20-year-old, who is currently ranked 13th in the world. He is currently here with the Indian team as the first singles player for the Asia Team Championships in Shah Alam. However, Lakshya did not get off to a good start as he fell 11-21, 19-21 to South Korea’s Jeon Hyeok-jin in India’s opening tie on Tuesday. India eventually lost 0-5 and will hope to bounce back by beating Hong Kong today for their first win in Group A.“I did not play well. I’m disappointed that I lost.
