KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 106 vehicles, including luxury marques like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, will be publicly auctioned off on April 30.

Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department director Datuk Ismail Mohd Zawawi said the vehicles – 75 cars, 28 motorcycles, two lorries and a van – will be auctioned at its state headquarters in Jalan Genting Klang from 9am onwards.A public inspection of the vehicles will be held on April 26 and 29 between 10am and 3.30pm.“For the vehicles that must be scrapped, only licensed scrap metal operators are allowed to bid.

“The operators must bring the equipment to dismantle the vehicles to the JPJ office, and they will be provided space to do so,” he said.On another matter, nine taxi touts were detained by JPJ personnel at the Southern Integrated Terminal in Bandar Tasik Selatan here during enforcement operations between April 1 and 10.

Ismail said the team stationed at TBS caught the touts operating inside the terminal instead of at the designated taxi bays. “They were charging customers fares of at least RM30,” he said, adding that the touts were usually active between 4am and 7am.Ismail said their offence falls under Section 205 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, which carries a fine of up to RM50,000 upon conviction.
