KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested 41 suspects, as well as crippled two snatch-and-grab gangs, three house break-in gangs and one theft syndicate following a month-long operation here.

City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said Ops Rentap was carried out throughout the month of June, focussing on crime hotspots in Dang Wangi, Brickfields, Cheras, Sentul and Wangsa Maju.

"They checked 440 individuals and 310 motorcycles during the operation and arrested 41 suspects aged from 17 to 56," he said in a statement on Thursday . He added that statistics showed that the operations successfully reduced snatch theft crimes by 27.2%.
