THEY came and they conquered – but the invaders have now become the hunted.

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is at the Defence Ministry on Tuesday for an official working visit.

Also present were Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari, Defence Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, Army chief General Tan Sri Datuk Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, Navy chief Admiral Tan Sri Abd Rahman Ayob, Air Force chief General Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan and senior officers.

His Majesty also attended a briefing at the Bunga Raya Meeting Room and was briefed on the ministry's organisational structure and profile, the Defence White Paper and the Strategic Plan 2021-2025. Before leaving for home at 11.25am, the King met with some of the Armed Forces personnel and ministry staff present.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced that the Madani Education Savings (SPM) programme entails contributions being deposited into the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) accounts of 9,355 primary one pupils for the 2024 school session, totaling RM467,750. Mohamed Khaled also announced a government allocation of RM15 million through the Ministry of Education for the maintenance and upgrading of school facilities within military compounds. He highlighted that this allocation would benefit 29 primary and secondary schools, including a Mara Science Junior College, located within military bases nationwide.
