HONG KONG: Ketua Eksekutif Hong Kong, Carrie Lam hari ini mengumumkan beliau tidak akan bertanding merebut jawatan pemimpin wilayah ini pada penggal pentadbiran akan datang.
“Saya akan menamatkan lima penggal sebagai ketua eksekutif pada 30 Jun ini, sekali gus bersara selepas 42 tahun terlibat dalam kerajaan. “Saya perlu mengutamakan keluarga saya dan mereka cakap, sudah tiba masanya saya ‘pulang ke rumah’,” katanya.Beliau menjelaskan, perkara itu sudah dimaklumkan kepada kerajaan China sejak Mac tahun lalu.Sepanjang kerjayanya sebagai pemimpin wilayah ini, Lam berdepan dengan pelbagai ‘turun naik politik’ termasuk pandemik Covid-19 yang hampir melumpuhkan kerajaan Hong Kong.
Dalam pada itu, penduduk Hong Kong ‘masih tercari-cari’ siapa yang bakal mengetuai wilayah ini selepas ini. – AFP
