KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran Umno, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah berkata, kerajaan mempunyai tanggungjawab untuk melaksanakan cadangan Suruhanjaya Siasatan Diraja menyiasat kerugian urus niaga tukaran mata wang asing oleh Bank Negara Malaysia pada 1990-an.
“Ia adalah perkara serius kerana kerajaan mengalami kerugian lebih RM30 bilion disebabkan urus niaga forex itu. RCI itu dalam laporan setebal 400 muka surat menyalahkan bekas penasihat BNM, Nor Mohamed Yakcop atas kerugian RM31.5 bilion ditanggung bank pusat itu dalam urus niaga forex pada 1992 hingga 1994.
Semalam, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri, Liew Vui Keong dilaporkan berkata, penelitian ke atas cadangan RCI itu mendapati ada kekurangan keterangan dokumentari bagi membuktikan dakwaan itu.
