KENYATAAN Dr Mahathir Mohamad berkenaan orang Cina di Malaysia dan penggunaan penyepit makanan sebagai analogi menggambarkan kegagalan untuk berasimilasi di negara ini menunjukkan beliau terperangkap dalam pemikiran sempit dan perkauman, kata seorang pemimpin MCA. Seorang naib presiden parti Tan Teik Cheng berkata bagi seseorang yang sudah hidup cukup lama untuk menyaksikan penjajahan di bawah British, pendudukan Jepun, kemerdekaan dan pemodenan Malaysia, Dr Mahathir masih memegang “nilai-nilai yang tidak mempunyai tempat dalam masyarakat berbilang budaya Malaysia”.
