NSTsports: Japan's KentoMomota, who was involved in a road crash on Monday, left for Japan today.

The men's singles world No 1, along with two other injured Japanese, Yu Hirayama and Akifumi Morimoto, were escorted through the special lounge at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at about 8.15am.

Momota, Hirayama, Morimoto and a BWF technical official, William Thomas, were all in a van heading to the airport on Monday, when they crashed into the back of a trailer on the MEX Highway.The rest were then rushed to the Putrajaya Hospital where they were admitted for two days.

Japan BA's chief coach, Park Joo Bong, who was with the team at the hospital, left for Jakarta this morning to join the rest of his players, who are competing in the ongoing Indonesia Masters. On Sunday, Momota, who is also the reigning world champion, bagged his maiden title of Malaysian soil, when he defeated Denmark's Viktor Axelsen in the final at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.
