PAS Supporters Wing information chief Balachandran Gopal Krishnan said the decision was a temporary one made due to the present Covid-19 pandemic.“Let us not politicise this issue. If the situation recovers in the coming years, I believe Thaipusam will be declared a holiday once again,” the special officer to the Terengganu menteri besar told FMT.“We will even apply to the Kedah government to make Thaipusam a public holiday when Covid-19 is gone.
Commenting on a statement by DHPP chief N Balasubramaniam who had earlier urged Sanusi to review the decision to cancel the holiday, Balachandran said Balasubramaniam was referring to the future when the Covid-19 pandemic would already have been brought under control.
