Kastam bantu tangani coronavirus

Ketua Pengarah JKDM Datuk Seri Paddy Abd Halim berkata, pihaknya hanya menerima permohonan daripada Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar dan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia untuk menempatkan kakitangan di lapangan terbang bagi membantu menahan pelancong yang didapati membawa makanan mengandungi virus berkenaan.“Mereka meminta pegawai kita di lapangan terbang membantu melihat mana-mana pelancong kemungkinan membawa makanan yang mungkin ada virus berkenaan.

“Namun, KKM mempunyai alat pengimbas khas untuk melakukan saringan kesihatan, jadi kastam tidak terbabit secara langsung sebaliknya hanya membantu menahan ,” katanya. Beliau berkata demikian pada sidang media selepas Sambutan Hari Kastam Sedunia ke-38 di padang Kompleks Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Kelana Jaya, di sini, hari ini.Wabak coronavirus mula dikesan di Wuhan, China sejak Disember tahun lalu.

Sehingga semalam, 205 kematian dilaporkan di seluruh dunia membabitkan empat negara termasuk China seramai 201 orang.
