PETALING JAYA: The crisis in Ukraine and sanctions on Russia have sent prices of grains and fuels soaring.

This has not only hampered the prospects of the global economic recovery as countries start to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, but also threatens to cause a global economic recession. What can Asian nations do? The Star, a member of Asia News Network , invites readers to participate in the webinar Impacts of Food and Energy Crises on Asia on Monday, April 11 at 3pm Kuala Lumpur time .The webinar is co-presented by The Daily Star and the Philippine Daily Enquirer.

Philippine Daily Inquirer business news editor Dax Lucas and ANN editor Pana Janviroj will co-moderate the webinar. On the panel for the discussions are Asian Development Bank chief economist Albert Park; the European Union's directorate-general for agriculture and rural development for Asia and Australasia Raimondo Serra; Petroleum Authority of Thailand vice-president Anintita Praokaew; Prinn Panichpakdi, who is the chairman of the advisory committee to the Thai Commerce Minister; and research analyst Pauline Weil from Brussels-based think tank Bruegel.
