His Majesty officiated the declaration of Pasir Gudang City Council at Menara Aqabah here on Thursday .During the ceremony, Sultan Ibrahim also witnessed the handing over instrument of proclamation by Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican to the Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad before His Majesty read out the declaration.
Among those that attended the event also includes Johor Royal Court Council president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli, State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani and Pasir Gudang mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman.On Nov 22 last year, Sultan Ibrahim had proclaimed that Pasir Gudang was a city, the third in the state after Johor Baru and Iskandar Puteri.
Pasir Gudang was a former fishing village that had since been transformed into one of Malaysia’s biggest industrial zones as well as a major contributor to Johor’s growth and progress.
