JOHOR BARU: The Opposition should stop politicising every single issue, including the reopening of the country's borders, says Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

The MCA secretary-general said the border closure was due to the Covid-19 pandemic and border reopening talks are coincidentally taking place during the ongoing Johor election.

"I believe the government has its own plans on what to implement next following the reinstatement of the Malaysia-Singapore land Vaccinated Travel Lane quota, which was previously halved due to the Covid-19 situation."If the state election were to be in Kedah, certain people might ask why the Thai border had not reopened to allow Malaysians to return to vote.

Chong added that the government had never stopped Malaysians from returning to the country and if the border was to reopen in the next few days, MCA would welcome the move as well.
