The MCA veteran's death has been confirmed by the state MCA officials.He held the position of Pengkalan Rinting assemblyman from 2008 to 2013 after winning the seat in the 2008 General Election.
He was appointed a senator in 2014 after receiving a recommendation from former Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.In addiiton, he held the position of MCA Johor Liaison Committee secretary aside from being the Pulai MCA division chief since 2013. Chia was also well-known in the community as he was actively involved with non-governmental organizations in the state.
He was active in solving public complaints when he was appointed as Johor MCA public complaints bureau chief.
