State International Trade, Investment and Utility Committee chairman Jimmy Puah Wee Tse said the issue of water tariff hike was a sensitive matter to the government.
"Most of the revenue collected through tariff here are used by Ranhill SAJ to absorb the operational cost of supplying water, as well as loan payment to the Federal Government through lease rental scheme by Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad ," he added. He added that among the state government initiatives included the settling of the federal government loan to PAAB worth RM189.4mil.
Puah added that the discussion was in the final stages where the state government was awaiting the Federal Government's decision on the matter.
