JOHOR BARU, June 28 — The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Service Department foiled an attempt to smuggle in 18 tonnes of rice from Singapore that was loaded in a lorry at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar cargo import area here recently.
“We detained the lorry that was carrying 20 jumbo bags containing rice with an estimated weight of 18 tonnes without having valid import documents at BSI. “The case has been handed over to the Johor paddy and rice control division for further investigation.” Johor Marqis said.
