Jhy Dar-Roy King, who won the Malaysian and Indian Junior Open International titles, lost to top seeds Wang Chang-Di Zijian of China in the quarter-finals of the Asian Junior Championships in Suzhou, China, in July – but they have shown steady progress in the last two months.
They were two of the 19-member squad selected for the world junior meet. The others are Kok Jing Hong, Mohd Shaqeem Eiman Shahyar, Wyman Goh, Lee Shun Yang, Ching Kai Feng, Wan Mohd Arif Shaharuddin, Mohd Haikal Nazri and Lwi Sheng Hao ; Gan Jing Err, Low Yee Yuan, Go Pei Kee, Myisha Mohd Khairul, Tan Zhing Yi, Valeree Siow and Teoh Lexuan ; and two independent players – K. Letshanaa and Arena Satu Samin.
In the mixed team event, Malaysia have been drawn in Group B with Russia, Hong Kong, Canada and Macau. “We didn’t do well in the mixed team event at the last Asian junior meet, losing in the group stage.
