There were some sniggers in the court room when lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah broached the subject with prosecution witness and former 1MDB chief executive officer Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi.
However, when Shahrol replied that as far as he knew Low was never on any official payroll, Shafee went for the jugular."Did it not raise any question that this very shrewd businessman is doing all this work and yet he is not getting paid for it," he asked the former 1MDB top gun during cross-examination of the trial involving Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Shafee had earlier put Shahrol, 49, through a series of questions on Low's role in the establishment of TIA, which was the predecessor of 1MDB.
