KOTA KINABALU: An opposition leader here has called for authorities to take pro-active action following a recent spike in incidents involving illegal immigrants.

Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku president Datuk Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan said the relevant authorities such as the police and the Immigration department must flush out illegal immigrants from Sabah.

“The recent spate of crimes involving illegals have caused considerable concern among locals, especially the younger generation, so much so there have been rumours of groups wanting to retaliate by attacking immigrants in Ranau and Keningau,” said the Keningau MP in a statement Wednesday . “For the first time, we have emotions and anger escalating to a level where youths are willing to brings weapon to town to beat up immigrants," he said.
