Menteri Sains Teknologi dan Inovasi , Khairy Jamaluddin berkata, buat masa ini tapak pelupusan seluas 202.35 hektar itu adalah satu-satunya kawasan yang digazetkan secara rasmi oleh kerajaan negeri."Mereka sudah mengenal pasti satu tempat seluas 12 hektar, enam peratus daripada saiz tapak pelupusan itu.
"Selepas perbincangan dengan ahli Yang Berhormat, sebaik saja kita selesai sidang parlimen saya sendiri akan turun ke Pahang, buat lawatan ke tapak itu dan adakan perbincangan mungkin ada tapak-tapak lain yang lebih sesuai," katanya ketika menggulung perbahasan kementeriannya di Dewan Rakyat hari ini.
Ahli Parlimen Rembau itu menjawab soalan Fuziah Salleh mengenai proses larut lesap yang seharusnya dilakukan di Australia. Khairy berkata, syarat untuk pembaharuan lesen Lynas adalah untuk memindahkan larut lesap ke Australia. "Perkara ini sudah menjadi syarat dan kita sedang memantau supaya tapak berkenaan betul-betul dibangunkan di Australia," katanya.
