Japanese Twitter mocks ‘Abenomasks’ pledge

A PLEDGE by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to send two reusable cloth masks to every household as the country battles Covid-19 has been met with derision and humour online. Within hours of the announcement, the hashtag “Abenomasks” – a play on the leader’s signature “Abenomics” economic policy – was trending on Japanese Twitter.
