Japan to buy island for US military drills

JAPAN today said it has agreed to buy an uninhabited island off its southwestern coast for US$146 million , eyeing it for American military drills. Tokyo and Washington in 2011 agreed to relocate a training site for US fighter jets to Mageshima Island, some 30km off the Japanese coast.
