“We, the Umno division leaders, will defend our president and Barisan Nasional chairman, and will ask Wee Ka Siong to step down instead for making such a statement ,” Jamal told reporters at the Umno headquarters tonight. They also said Zahid’s decision to send a letter backing Anwar Ibrahim for the prime minister’s post to Istana Negara had gone against the collective decision made by BN. Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has also demanded that Wee quit over BN’s dismal performance in Saturday’s general election.
